This Thursday is another members evening. For the first part of the evening Rob Dyer will hold a session on Mounting prints for competitions. This will be a practical evening on how to cut and mount prints for club and external competitions.

The second half of the evening will be a presentation of images by Jeff Barber from his road trip in the American Southwest.

This Thursday is another DPI competition on the subject of Action. Our judge for the evening will be Ralph Snook.

This Thursday we will be holding a Grand Auction Night. All of us have photographic gear lying around that we no longer need, especially if you upgraded at Christmas!

This is an opportunity to pass it onto your fellow club members. Not limited to cameras and lenses, items for auction can include small accessories, mounts, books, camera bags, tripods etc. In fact, anything photography related. There will also be an entirely optional opportunity to donate a % of any sale to club funds.

This Thursday will be the Club’s AGM where members get the chance to vote for key committee positions or volunteer your services on the committee. Come along and have your say in the running of your club and be a part of any important decisions.

Submissions are due for the next DPI Competition on the category of “Action”.

Members can submit DPI images depicting subjects in fast-paced motion, freezing split-second moments of energy and excitement in sports, wildlife, events, or any high-speed activity, using techniques like fast shutter speeds and continuous autofocus to convey the subject’s movement, energy, and story.

This Thursday members have the opportunity to show their images from the portrait photo shoot a few weeks ago. You can bring along your images on a memory stick or in mounted print format if you prefer.

This Thursday we have a presentation by Mike Harris ex-Deputy Editor of N-Photo magazine on the topic of Motorsports. Mike is an expert on motorsport photography. Discover how to take stunning action and panning shots, like this one taken by Kevin Crosbie.

This Thursday is our second DPI competition of the season on the category of Landscapes. This category also includes seascapes and cityscapes.

Our judge for this competition is Peter Ottley LRPS. Peter is based in Weston-Super-Mare and has had his work exhibited in international exhibitions and salons. His images reflect his love of the West Country and wildlife.

Following Wendy’s presentation last week on Portraits, we are holding a Portraits Photoshoot this week.

Two models (one male, one female) will be available in the hall for the evening for members to practice their portrait shots. We will split into two groups, each working with one model, everyone will get their turn to ask for lighting, expressions or posing etc.

Aside from being your Programme Secretary this year, Wendy Evans is also the Technique Editor for Digital Camera magazine. This Thursday Wendy will give a presentation on Portraits, covering focal lengths, common mistakes, portrait lengths, lighting and posing.
