Want to Join Us?
Have you just bought a new camera and want to improve your photography, or even just want to learn how to take better images on your smartphone? Fantastic! It probably won’t surprise you to know that most people who are thinking of becoming a member ask similar questions. The answers to the more obvious ones are here but if you have any further questions please email our Secretary Paul.
You can attend up to 3 meetings before deciding to take up membership, but you won’t be able to participate in competitions until you are a paid-up member. We ask that you just pay the £2 entrance fee for those 3 evenings.
How much does it cost?
In order to keep the club operating this season the membership fee has had to be raised due to increased hire charges for the hall (heating, electricity etc). The price is £60 for the season (Sept-May). You can either pay by cash at one of our meetings, or contact our Treasurer Evelyn for our banking details. An entrance fee of £2 will be charged for each evening attended in the hall (taken at the door, or can be paid to the Treasurer in advance). Tea or coffee served at the evening break is included in the entrance fee.
Who can join?
Anyone over the age of 18 can come to our meetings. It doesn’t matter what type of camera you use or how long you’ve been taking photographs. We only ask that you have a love of photography and wish to join a friendly, growing community of people who enjoy taking pictures.
When & where do we meet?
We normally meet on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, although there’s normally someone there from just after 7.00. The venue is:

We will be retaining the online Zoom meeting facility, with a possibility of operating it in the hall in addition to visiting speakers. We will then be able to attract speakers who are remotely located and also accommodate members who just want to continue to participate online.
For anyone unfamiliar with Zoom, you can download the application for your device for free – just go to https://zoom.us/ but you can also join the meeting through a normal web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge etc) without needing to download anything to your PC or device. We will be operating a waiting room, and will admit everyone just before the meeting. The meeting details are:

What kind of welcome can you expect?
When you first come to meetings you won’t be made to feel like an outsider. You’ll have people come over and talk to you and make you feel welcome. Not because we’ve asked them to, but because they want to. We’re a friendly bunch and like to make guests feel welcome.
What do we do?
As well as holding weekly meetings we occasionally organise trips out to local events or places of interest. There’s also the opportunity to arrange photographic trips with other members yourself if you wish.
Our new season starts each September and we’ve got a brilliant line up of speakers, tutorials, demonstrations & lots of amazing photographs. So why not take a look at what we’re getting up to this year (see programme)
