Projection Competition 2 – Break the Rules

Members – Please remember that submissions for our next club Competition “Break The Rules ” are due by 12th November. Please email your digital images to projectionsecretary@trowbridgecc.uk by the 12th. Out of focus, wonky angles, Intentional Camera Movement, strange compositions. anything goes.

This is a new category and we are asking members to submit maybe something that would you would not normally use in a Club competition. Those images that are “difficult to judge”! The Competition will be judged by Mike Martin on 26th November. Mike has recently entertained us with his wild and wacky take on photography, so let’s get creative.

Naval days and beyond

After several false starts and a last minute exploding hard drive, it is with enormous pleasure that we welcome back to the club this Thursday (5th November) ex Naval Photographer Fez Parker.

Fez runs Back2blackandwhite Photography School in Bath (pictured with Kev and George) and he is all set to thrill us once again with more ripping yarns and incredible stories from his Naval days and beyond.

Many thanks to Kevin Crosbie for working so hard on IT Support for Fez in order to make this evening happen

Technical Workshop – Lightroom/Still Life Photography

For the club meeting this Thursday (29th October) we are in the capable hands of two of our own very experienced club members, Andrew Leach & Jane Wiltshire who will be sharing their tips and technical expertise.

Andrew will present a Technical Workshop on the subject of Lightroom and Jane will provide us with an insight into her wonderful world of Still Life Photography.

Nick Krainc our Programme Secretary is keen to get other members involved in this way during the rest of the season by having regular “Members Nights” maybe every couple of months. So please have a think about anything you would like to share with the Club. It doesn’t need to last for 1 or 2 hours but just a “slot” for you to show your work, talk about a photographic topic or a photographer you enjoy. The stage is yours…..

Radical Street Photography

This Thursday (22nd October) we welcome David Lewis-Baker to speak at our club meeting via Zoom. Delayed from last season, David is going to share with us his quite extraordinary ” Radical Street Photography” presentation.

David has a wry, witty and knowledgeable take on things , photography being no exception. Here is an excerpt from his bio:

“I am a retired professor living and working as a writer, street photographer and digital artist in the beautiful Roman and Georgian city of Bath. I have been painting and drawing most of my life and after a period of ill health I retired from Warwick University in 2006 to become a professional new media digital fine artist and fine art photographer in Bath. I am a painterly digital artist and my work ranges widely from portraits and landscape pieces, to abstract, surrealist and also conceptual works. My art and photographic works are in private collections around the world and have been used in various publications. I am also an experienced street photographer centring my practice on the streets of Bath, but also working in Bristol, London, the USA and Europe.”

So members, sign on and strap in … this might get a little weird!!!

Shooting People and Other Stuff

Our Speaker this week will be the extremely talented Mike Martin, AFIAP, AWPF. Originally intended for last season, we are very fortunate to have been able to book Mike again to deliver his presentation “Shooting People and Other Stuff”

From Mike’s website;-
Photography is a love, passion, joy… obsession – long may it continue. I am a hobbyist photographer and keen club member; competitive and sometimes creative, but always hungry to learn or to help others.

I’ve been interested in photography for too long to say…I don’t really have the patience for landscape (doesn’t stop me trying though) but love urban photos, architecture, plants, beasts and bugs, trees, infrared, night, creative, manipulated images – basically anything.

Another Zoom session not to be missed.

Usual Zoom recurring meeting.
